Cooperative learning centres (learning co-opts)

Experientia docet (experience teaches) said the Romans. Life educates, said J.H. Pestalozzi, the great Swiss educationist, echoing them with a difference. Co-operation, as a part of life and experience, also educates in the same sense. This sense, however, is more restricted than at first appears. Experience teaches those, and only those, who are willing and able to learn from experience and only within the limits of their experience. Life educates, but it can equally mis-educate through the force of bad examples and even render people, through privation, disillusionment and despair - perhaps also unexpected or undeserved prosperity - ineducable. Co-operation educates by making demands on its participants which they can meet only in so far as they are able to acquire fresh knowledge and adopt new modes of behaviour. This education can sometimes be very effective, although - possibly because - there may be no conscious effort to learn.

Cooperative learning co-opts also known as co-operative of or affording cooperation cooperatives willing to cooperate and collaborate are growing online exponentially.

Cooperative learning formation is dynamic by nature and there is no universally accepted definition of a cooperative learning system and or cooperative learning form.
Historically, a cooperative learning formation is a public educational cooperative system owned and democratically controlled by the people who use its services and whose benefits are derived and distributed equitably on the basis of knowledge, skills and integrated abilities use. The user-owners are called cooperative learning members. They benefit in three ways from the cooperative learning, in proportion to the use they make of it.

  1. The more cooperative learning members use the cooperative learning system, the more educational services they receive.
  2. Educational resources are allocated to cooperative learning members based on the degree of commitment they demonstrate with in the cooperative learning organization.
  3. The more cooperative learning system evolute, the more opportunities become available to cooperative learning members.
Although the most obvious beneficiaries are students and employers, educational institutions discover academic and economic advantages to co-op programs. In terms of numbers, approximately 900,000 postsecondary students are involved in cooperative learning co-op programs at more than 3,000 colleges and universities.

Educational cooperatives represent a unique form of cooperative learning features and communal exploitation of education that lists the fiscal benefits applicable to cooperative learning communities as affordable collaborative learning solution.

Cooperative learning exchange (Collaborative Learning) encourages active learning participation in the internet learning process. It encompasses a set of cooperative exchange approaches to cooperative education, also called cooperative learning exchange or small group learning. Cooperative learning usualy creates an environment "that involves users (students) in doing things and thinking about the things they are doing", and reaches students, tutors and teachers who otherwise might not be engaged. Finally, Cooperative learning is one teaching collaborative strategy among many, each of which can play a role to make internet cooperative learning an active and effective process.

Does cooperative learning really work?

Two answers come to mind with this question is: "Yes." and "It depends." If properly incorporated into the cooperative learning dynamics, collaborative learning has been shown to be successful at improving learning achievement, persistence, and attitudes on the college level, and also to improve international relations, acceptance of not academically handicapped methodologies, self-esteem in the K-12 level and likely also on the college level.

Cooperative Learning, Interaction, and Creation in a Networked Educational Environment: Organization and Access for Multiple-Cultural Users, light how certain archival principles of description and organization, coupled with the evaluation of the information found in cultural artifacts, can benefit networked information services for research and education. Emerging out of a community in the making, there is a sense that there is little communication or cooperation between efforts, an overshadowing of the complexities brought to the virtual fore by the very nature of cultural products, and, in turn, an all-too- frequent occurrence of what many librarians, archivists, and museum curators lovingly refer to as "stuff."[1]
The Musical Heritage Network is an example of a collaborative educational service community in a networked environment. The mission of the Network is to serve as a distribution center for ethnomusicological materials that can be used in physical and virtual classrooms. The Network is responsible for organizing materials created in-house and donated in the most efficient and dynamic scheme possible so that educators and students have resources for learning and teaching; resources more immediately accessible than ever before. Access, in light of the fact that materials will come from a wide range of sources, covers a wide range of topics, is in a variety of formats, and is much more complex than meets the eye. We hope that this paper will elucidate the issues needed to be addressed so that more cultural initiatives can be realized and developed in progressive ways. In addition, we intend for our analysis to be applicable to collaborative projects outside of ethnomusicological education.

What's the difference between collaborative and cooperative learning?

The terms collaborative learning and cooperative learning sometimes are used interchangeably. This is reasonable, as both favor group activities and participation over conventional passive, lecture based teaching and each require a specific task to be completed. Each cooperative learning strategy inherently supports a discovery based approach to learning. The two methods assign various internet base roles though collaborative learning can have fewer roles assigned. In both situations, student members are required to possess group skills though cooperative learning may include this as a instructional goal. The cooperative learning exchange comes with a framework upon which the internet base learning activity resides, but cooperative learning is usually more structurally defined than collaborative learning.

How to use the Cooperative learning exchange?

Using the Cooperative learning exchange is not a complicated process. The simple and direct way to use the cooperative learning exchange is to do the things in your own way.
If you can't find a cooperative learning exchange aspect to match your needs, feel free to contact as any time and make a suggestion how to improve the cooperative learning exchange.

Cooperative learning exchange Overview

The Cooperative learning exchange is explicitly designed:
- For independent thinking people.
- FOR PEOPLE WITH NO FEAR:

  • To Seek what they need.
  • To Offer what they can.
  • To Trade what they want.

The real world is competitive, and many skills are result of collaborative and cooperative learning. Most scientific research is done by teams of cooperative individuals working together. Many educational organizations, have found that the old model of individuals performing specific tasks or even teams stratified within companies doesn't permit the creativity necessary for survival. New approaches involve teams of people with diverse skills, backgrounds, and viewpoints working collaboratively among themselves and with other teams to create new products. The cooperative group for sharing knowlidge, skills and abilities to learn by working in teams with a common purpose are skills they can take with them and use throughout their career and life.

Cooperative learning co-ops references:

Co-operative Education (Cooperative learning) must be given a wide definition for another reason, which is that in the final analysis all education is self-education. Learning, like Co-operation, is a form of self-help. There is force of course in the aphorism: He that is but self-taught has a fool for his master. But learning for oneself need not imply learning by oneself, any more than self- help in the economic sphere excludes mutual aid. It is important to recognise, however, for the purpose of Co-operative Education, that learning, whether to know or to do, precedes teaching and depends upon the unquenched appetite of the individual for knowledge and skill. Teaching is relevant or important only in so far as it may be the best method of promoting learning. The test of any system claiming to be educative is whether it provides experiences enabling the learner to develop his own powers and personality, and this is an added reason why the Co- operative Movement, in applying its Principle of Education, is bound to go beyond traditional academic education, which in its purposes and its methods is often totally unsuitable for the aims Co-operation has in view.

Cooperative Education: Characteristics and Effectiveness.
Cooperative education can enhance classroom instruction by providing practical work experience that is relevant to students' career goals. Co-op appears to offer benefits to all involved: students, institutions, and employers. Federal support in the last two decades has been strong, particularly at the postsecondary level. Has cooperative education fulfilled its promise? Is it an effective way to prepare people for a rapidly changing world and workplace?
This ERIC Digest looks at evidence from the literature on cooperative learning co-op's benefits for students, schools, and employers. It examines some of the issues raised by the program's advocates and detractors and summarizes recommendations about the future of cooperative education.

EDUCATIONAL CO-OPS COMPETE, TAX-FREE, WITH BUSINESS
When Roger Haack bought into a small software business in 1987, he never dreamed he would end up competing with a tax-free competitor. Haack left his farming operation to try to succeed in the dog-eat-dog world of computer software development and sales, and succeed he has.
